§ 12-52. Advisory commission established; duties and responsibilities.

  • The city council hereby establishes a commission, to be known as the parks and recreation advisory commission, which shall evaluate the adequacy of recreational programs and facilities, both public and private, in the Kannapolis area. Such evaluation shall be made on an on-going basis, with written reports containing findings and recommendations being made to the city council annually or more often if so required by the council. The commission shall also have the following duties and responsibilities:

    (1)

    To conduct a recreation needs assessment; and

    (2)

    To develop a comprehensive parks and recreation master plan; and

    (3)

    To serve in an advisory and resource capacity to the city council and city program providers; and

    (4)

    To coordinate parks and recreational activities, both public and private, in the community; and

    (5)

    To perform such other duties relating to the purposes set forth herein as the city council may from time to time request.
