§ 4-2. Initial election.

The city's initial election for mayor and council members shall be held on Tuesday, April 23, 1985. Thereafter, all city elections shall be held as provided by general law for cities. The mayor and council members elected in the initial election shall take office at noon on Tuesday, May 7, 1985, and shall serve until their successors are elected and qualified in the regular municipal elections of 1987 and 1989, as provided in Chapter III of this Charter and the general law. The regular municipal election provided by general law to be held in the fall of 1985 by all cities shall not be conducted in the City of Kannapolis.
