§ 3-1. Interim governing body.

The Kannapolis Charter Commission serves as the interim governing body for the City of Kannapolis, as provided in Section 15 of Chapter 191, Session Laws of the 1983 General Assembly of North Carolina. The chairman of the Charter commission serves as interim mayor and the other members of the commission as interim council members from noon on Tuesday, December 11, 1984, until noon on Tuesday, May 7, 1985, when their successors shall have been elected and qualified as provided in section 4-2 below. Vacancies in the Charter commission's membership while it serves as the interim governing body for the City of Kannapolis are filled as provided by the legislation creating the Charter commission.
