§ 15. Initial governing body.

If the City of Kannapolis is incorporated as provided in this act, the Kannapolis Charter Commission shall act as an interim government, with the chairman acting as temporary mayor. The interim government shall serve until their successors are elected and qualified, as provided in the city's Charter and the general law, at a municipal election to be held not later than June 30, 1985. Vacancies in the initial governing body shall be filled as provided by general law for cities in North Carolina.
