§ 19-1. Adoption of new boundaries.
An official map of the City of Kannapolis is hereby adopted showing the extraterritorial jurisdiction area boundary of the City of Kannapolis, all such area lying within Rowan County. Such map shall be maintained in the manner provided for in North Carolina General Statutes 160A-22 and shall be recorded in the Office of the Register of Deeds of Rowan County. The boundary of the extraterritorial jurisdiction area is described as follows:
Territory 1 Rowan County West.
Beginning at a point being the intersection of Irish Buffalo Creek, said creek being the existing City of Kannapolis City Limit boundary line, at its intersection with the Cabarrus-Rowan County boundary line; thence westerly along said County boundary line approximately four thousand five hundred (4,500) feet to a point being the intersection of said County boundary line with the westernmost property boundary line of Parcel 34, Tax Map 249-D, Atwell Township; thence northerly along said boundary line of said parcel to a point being the northwest property boundary corner of said parcel; thence northerly to a point being the southwestern property boundary corner of Parcel 37, Tax Map 249-D, Atwell Township; thence northerly along the western property boundary line of said parcel to a point being the northwestern property boundary corner of said parcel; thence easterly approximately one hundred ninety-three (193) feet to a point along the northern property boundary line of said parcel; thence northerly approximately three hundred thirty-nine (339) feet to a point being the southwestern property boundary corner of Parcel 18, Tax Map 249-D, Atwell Township; thence northerly along the western property boundary line of said parcel to a point being the intersection of said property boundary line with North Carolina Secondary Road 1124 (Enochville Road -West "C" Street); thence along the centerline of SR 1124 to a point being the intersection of said centerline with the centerline of SR 1382 (Winona Avenue); thence northerly approximately three thousand one hundred sixty (3,160) feet along said centerline to a point being the intersection of said centerline with the southern property boundary line of Parcel 159, Tax Map 245, Atwell Township; thence easterly approximately five hundred fifty (550) feet and northerly approximately two thousand eight hundred fifteen (2,815) feet along the southern and eastern property boundary lines of said parcel to a point being the northeastern property boundary corner of said parcel; thence easterly and northerly in a counter-clockwise direction along the easternmost property boundary lines of Parcel 15, Tax Map 244, Atwell Township to a point being the intersection of said property boundary line with the centerline of SR 1197 (Cannon Farm Road); thence northeasterly approximately five hundred thirty (530) feet along said centerline to a point being the intersection of said centerline with the southern extension of the western property boundary line of Parcel 108, Tax Map 244, Atwell Township; thence northerly along the western property boundary line of said parcel and Parcels 7 and 97, Tax Map 244, Atwell Township to a point being the northwestern property boundary corner of the latter parcel; thence easterly approximately one thousand three hundred thirty (1,330) feet along the northernmost property boundary line of Parcels 97, 206 and 8-1, Tax Map 244, Atwell Township to a point being the northeastern property boundary corner of the latter; thence in a northerly direction along the eastern property boundary line of Parcel 59, Tax Map 244, Atwell Township to a point being the northeastern property boundary corner of said parcel; thence northeasterly along the southeasternmost property boundary line of Parcel 10, Tax Map 236, Atwell Township to a point being the centerline of Irish Buffalo Creek; thence southeasterly approximately one thousand five hundred (1,500) feet along said creek center line to a point being the intersection with the southerly extension of the southeastern property boundary line of Parcel 9-1, Tax Map 236, Atwell Township; thence northerly along the easternmost property boundary line of said parcel to a point being the easternmost property boundary corner of said parcel; thence northeasterly along the westernmost property boundary line of Parcels 72 and 73, Tax Map 131, Atwell/China Grove Township to a point being the northwestern property boundary corner of the latter; thence easterly along the northern property boundary of the latter parcel to a point being the northeastern property boundary line of the latter parcel; thence northerly along the western property boundary line of Parcel 92, Tax Map 131, China Grove Township to a point being the northwestern property boundary corner of said parcel; thence southeasterly approximately one thousand seven hundred sixty (1,760) feet to a point being the northeast property boundary corner of Parcel 100, Tax Map 131, China Grove Township and the intersection with the Town of Landis Extraterritorial Jurisdiction boundary line; thence southerly along the eastern property boundary line of Parcels 100, 98, 167 and 65, Tax Map 131, China Grove Township to a point being the approximate intersection of SR 1197 (Cannon Farm Road) and SR 1198 (Homer Corriher Drive); thence southwest along the centerline of SR 1197 (Cannon Farm Road) to a point being the intersection of said centerline with the northwesterly extension of the northeasternmost property boundary line of Parcel 62, Tax Map 131, China Grove Township; thence southerly along the easternmost property boundary line of said parcel and Parcel 61, Tax Map 131, China Grove Township to a point being the southeastern property boundary corner of the latter parcel; thence westerly along the southernmost property boundary line of said parcel to a point being the northeastern property boundary corner of Parcel 7, Tax Map 132, China Grove Township; thence southwesterly along the eastern property boundary line of said parcel extended to follow the easternmost property boundary lines of Parcels 6, 5-C and 4, Tax Map 132, China Grove Township to a point being the southernmost property boundary corner, the intersection of the existing City of Kannapolis City Limits boundary line; thence westerly and southerly along the existing City of Kannapolis City Limits boundary line to a point being the intersection of said City Limits boundary line and the Cabarrus-Rowan County line on the centerline of Irish Buffalo Creek, the point of beginning.
Territory 2 Rowan County East.
Beginning at a point where the Town of Landis Extraterritorial Jurisdiction boundary line and the City of Kannapolis City Limit boundary line intersect, said point being located on the northeast side of the City of Kannapolis, said point being approximately two hundred (200) feet east of the intersection of 26th Street and Bradley Avenue and approximately on line with an easterly extension of 26th Street to a point where it intersects the City of Kannapolis City Limit boundary line; thence easterly approximately three thousand four hundred (3,400) feet along the Landis Extraterritorial Jurisdiction boundary line to a point; thence north approximately three hundred fifty (350) feet along the Town of Landis Extraterritorial Jurisdiction to a point where said Town of Landis Extraterritorial Jurisdiction boundary line intersects the centerline of Beaver Creek, that point being southeast of the Town of Landis; thence in a southeasterly direction along the centerline of Beaver Creek, in its course as it meanders approximately three thousand (3,000) feet to the point of intersection with North Carolina Secondary Road 1322; thence continuing along Beaver Creek southeasterly approximately five thousand five hundred (5,500) feet to the point of intersection with SR 1238; thence continuing along Beaver Creek in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately nine hundred (900) feet to a point where Beaver Creek and Cold Water Creek intersect; thence in a southerly direction along the centerline of the course of Cold Water Creek until it empties into the northern basin of Lake Fisher and; thence along the center line of Lake Fisher to a point of intersection with SR 1308, an approximate distance of two thousand eight hundred fifty (2,850) feet; thence in an easterly direction along the centerline of SR 1308 (Moose Road) for a distance of approximately one thousand seven hundred (1,700) feet to the point of intersection with Interstate Highway 85; thence in a southerly direction along the centerline of I-85 for a distance of approximately two thousand four hundred (2,400) feet to a point where the centerline of I-85 and the Cabarrus-Rowan County lines intersect; thence in a westerly direction approximately five thousand five hundred (5,500) feet along the Cabarrus-Rowan County line to a point where said county line intersects the City of Kannapolis City Limit boundary line, said point being approximately two hundred fifty (250) feet southwest of the intersection of Englewood Street and Keever Street; thence along the City of Kannapolis City Limit boundary line in a northwesterly direction more or less to the point of beginning.
