§ 12-33. Vehicles and parking.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to:

    (a)

    Drive any vehicle or bicycle on any area except the paved park roads or parking areas, or such areas as may on occasion be specifically designated as temporary areas by the city manager or his designee.

    (b)

    Park a vehicle anywhere except on a designated parking area.

    (c)

    Leave a vehicle standing or parked in established parking areas or elsewhere in any park during hours when the park is closed.

    (d)

    Leave a bicycle in a place other than a bicycle rack when such is provided and there is space available.

    (e)

    Ride a bicycle without reasonable regard to the safety of others.

    (f)

    Leave a bicycle lying on the ground or pavement or set against trees or other unsafe areas.

    (g)

    Unless otherwise posted, operate a motor vehicle in excess of twenty (20) miles per hour within any park.

    (h)

    Operate a motorized trail bike or any other vehicle designed primarily for off-road use within the confines of any park.

    (i)

    Park a vehicle in a prohibited area, such as a handicapped-parking area, on the grass, or on the shoulder of a road. Any vehicle so parked may be towed at the owner's expense. The decision to tow a vehicle will be made by park personnel or city police.

    (j)

    Stop or park any truck, automobile or other vehicle or object in any area that is designated as a fire lane.

    (k)

    Fail to comply with all applicable provisions of the state motor vehicle traffic laws in regard to equipment and operation of vehicles together with such regulations as are contained in this and other articles.

    (l)

    Fail to obey all police officers or park personnel, such persons being hereby authorized and instructed to direct traffic whenever needed in any park and on the highways, streets or roads immediately adjacent thereto in accordance with the provisions of these regulations and such supplementary regulations as may be issued subsequently by the city manager.

    (m)

    Fail to observe carefully all traffic signs indicating speed, direction, caution, stopping, or parking, and all others posted for proper control and to safeguard life and property.
