§ 12-23. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    City manager means the city manager of the City of Kannapolis.

    City council means the Kannapolis City Council.

    Department means the Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department.

    Footpath, trail or greenway means any path or trail maintained for pedestrians, bicycles and other means of permitted transportation.

    Park, park property, public property means and includes all or any portion of any park or other public property in the City of Kannapolis including, but not limited to, Bakers Creek Park, Mountain Street Park, Village Park, Veterans Park, Walter M. Safrit Park, Kannapolis Cemetery, James Street Park, Dale Earnhardt Tribute Park and CMC-NE Baseball Stadium. The terms park, park property and public property shall be each deemed to include one another. Parks shall be identified by signage at each entrance.

    Pedestrian means a person afoot.

    Permit means any written license issued by or under the authority of the department, permitting the performance of a specified act.

    Regulation means any regulation duly adopted by the Kannapolis City Council or the city manager.

    Vehicle means any conveyance, including motor vehicles, trailers of all types, campers, sleds, sleighs, pushcarts, or vehicles propelled by other than muscular power. Vehicles shall also include any horse or horse-drawn conveyance but shall exclude non-motorized bicycles or tricycles or vehicles used to propel disabled persons.
